Elana comes with 15+ years experience in the education/corporate philanthropy world and most recently led the online marketing strategy for the George Lucas Educational Foundation for over 8 years where she grew Edutopia’s social media presence exponentially to reach over 20 million education change-makers every month. Elana is passionate about changing education and founded her own online marketing consultancy that primarily focuses on the K-12 education technology space to make an even bigger impact. LCG provides comprehensive marketing channel audits and social media, content marketing, and online community strategy and implementation services. Clients include Facebook education, Education.com, Abl Schools, Insight Education Group, the Anti Defamation League (education division), The Teaching Channel, and more.
Elana is on the board of The Prison University Project, a nonprofit dedicated to providing excellent higher education at San Quentin State Prison and is also acting VP of Communications for the Alumni Board for Haas' Executive MBA program. In education, Elana was instrumental in introducing education un-conferences (called edcamps) to the West coast for educators, was recognized twice as “82 Amazing Community Professionals You Need to Know” by CMX, and blogs and speaks nationally at social media and education conferences.
Elana graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Business Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received her MBA from the Haas School of Business, Berkeley through Haas' Executive MBA program in 2017.
In her spare time, she loves to travel internationally, practice yoga, play lots of old man sports (bocce, shuffleboard, bowling), and do pretty much anything out on the water: Sailing, Kayaking, Scuba, and Surfing. She currently lives in Sausalito, California.
